CTC Virtual Workshop:
Virtual Worlds in Formal and Informal Education

May 20 - May 21, 1999

Registration

We asked participants to apply for this workshop, complete and submit this registration form by April 30, 1999. Note: The number of registrants for the full workshop was limited by the space in the lecture/lab facility, so we requested early registration to plan for onsite participation.

All participants recieved e-mail acknowledgment of your application and a registration packet upon receipt of fee payment.

Registration was required. All registration was electronic, using forms and a database at CTC. In addition to standard information, we requested remote participants to provide information on the computer, software, and network connection that they would be using. This is very important for planning broadcasts.

Full workshop participants: Registration for the full workshop included access to the workshop, hands-on sessions, Birds-Of-a-Feather (BOF) sessions, and lunch on Thursday. Full workshop participants also had the opportunity to meet and talk with Bruce Damer, founding director of the Contact Consortium and Pied Piper of Virtual Worlds, during an informal dinner reception at the Cornell Plantations. Damer's visit was supported through a grant from the Cornell Council on the Arts.

On-site attendees were asked to contribute a nominal registration fee of $30 to help cover costs or requested to contact us if this was a hardship or to volunteer to help during the sessions.

Remote workshop participants: It was very important that remote participants also register in order to help us plan the sessions and tours and to keep a lookout for them during the online sessions.

People who registered ontime received notification of acceptance by May 7, 1999.
