Cape Province vineyards, December 1997

The Cape Province region of South Africa boasts some of the finest growing regions for wine grapes in the world. Established as early as the sixteenth century by Dutch, French Hugenots and others, these vineyards produced sought after vintages within a single generation of their first planting. Major producers like Nederburg and others continue to supply the world with unique varieties such as Pinotage.
